Presales Solutions Architect – Server & Storage – Trenton, New Jersey or Detroit, Michigan
Provide presales support to assist in developing the sales pipeline. Be the technical lead on sales calls and facilitate interactions and collaboration with systems engineers and account executives. The SA is responsible for design and validation of solutions and providing guidance on best practices for implementation.
Analyze technical needs, requirements, and state of a customer’s needs and requirements. Identify opportunities and develop technical solutions to meet customers’ needs and requirements. Review and validate all solutions to ensure compatibility and consistency with company best practices. Assist the Sales Group and Professional Services with requests for quotes / information, bids, proposals and statements of work. Assist with the definition, development, installation and administration of solution demonstrations in the company labs. Evaluate new vendor technology offerings, providing recommendations and to-to market plans for said technology. Primary focus will be on vendors as follows: EMC, NetApp, HP, Cisco, Hitachi Data Systems, VMware, and Symantec.
This position may require 10 – 20% travel, as required to support client meetings, attend trainings and vendor events. Trips are generally short term, 2-5 days in duration.
Qualified candidates would have 3+ years experience in presales engineering, in selling system and solutions in the Channel mode.
5+ years as an engineering consultant, outside systems engineer or similar.
Strong understanding of the following and be able to meet with all levels of IT to discuss:
Servers – Cisco UCS, HP
Storage – EMC, NetApp, SAN, NAS, and iSCSI.
Servers – Blades Systems and standard rack mounts, and how the compliment server consolidation with Vmware.
Backup / Recover – Knowledge of at least one major backup/recovery solution (Symantec net Backup) and knowledge on latest techniques around backup, archiving, and disaster recover.
Software – NetBackup and Backup Exec, Vmware, Microsoft
Microsoft environments – Exchange, AD, SQL Server
Able to gather business and IT requirements to assess appropriate solutions approach
Understand systems and storage performance criteria as it relates to a solution
Can demonstrate proficiency in selling NetApp Unified Storage solutions
Has internalized NetApp differentiators and values
NetApp Certified Solutions Architect is a plus!
